Operation Round Up® Grants Awarded to Our Community
Operation Round Up® is supported by KEC members who “round up” their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help our neighbors in need. The extra pennies go into the Kootenai Electric Trust fund which distributes grants to worthy causes in KEC’s service territory.
The Kootenai Electric Trust Board recently awarded the third quarter 2019 Operation Round Up® grants to the following organizations:
- $2,329 to the Christian Center School for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) educational activities.
- $1,500 to the Community Action Partnership Food Bank for their annual Thanksgiving food distribution.
- $1,000 to Lemons of Love Northwest to purchase comfort items for cancer patients.
- $450 to the Manuel Schneidmiller American Legion Post 154 to support their programs for local students and veterans.
Are You ‘Rounding Up’ Your KEC Bill? If not, we need your help and are holding a contest to encourage more member participation in the Operation Round Up® program. Here’s how the contest works: start “rounding up” your KEC bill. If you sign up by October 31, 2019, we’ll enter you into a drawing for one of two $50 Visa gift cards. Already “rounding up” your bill? Thank you! We’ll also do a drawing for one of two $50 Visa gift cards for those members already participating in Operation Round Up®. Winners will be announced in the December 2019 newsletter.
